Experimental Task

We collected the data using the LR-paradigm introduced by the BBCI (www.bbci.de) in 2002. The experimental task was to press a button on the left keyboard side if an 'L' was presented and a button on the right keyboard side, if an 'R' was presented. The background of the screen was colored in a neutral, darker grey. In each trial, a black stimulus, randomly chosen from {L, R}, was presented for 700 ms in the centre of the screen, followed by a break of 300 ms. During the break only the blank grey background was shown. The task had to be executed as fast as possible, at best without errors and with the indexfinger of the related hand. The training session took 11 minutes, yielding approximately 650 stimulus presentations. After a break the same session was carried out another time. Here, the data of the first session is used as "trainingdata" and data of the second session as "testdata". A video of the stimulus presentation can be downloaded in the download section (right click / save target as).
